Hi I have a 1998 twin 787 speedster I just purchased. it was sitting for a few years and when I tried to start it the starboard engine runs good but port side hydro locks after 1 rotation,I know this is a common issue with the crank seals. I took the oil line off the bottom end and oil free flows out like it's just by passing the oil pump and filling the engine. My question is it that normal if that the seals are gone does the oil going thru that fast or could it be my oil pump not working or stuck open ? Any help would be great

Pull the plugs and crank it to shoot out the oil. Then reinstall plugs and start. After a few days try starting again to see how bad they are leaking. Some people put a ball valve on their oil line and shut it off when not in use but you gave to remember to open it everytime you run the boat.

Thanks I just did that and I'm getting it to roll over a lot longer but have yet to get it to run ,it's still locking up after cranking for awhile I'm getting exhaust smoke out the exaust which is good I think and have spark at the plugs,so I think it's just keep trying till she goes or should I try something else

See if the oil level in the tank is dropping while cranking. Have you ever had it out on the water? Or did you buy it with this issue?

I did buy it knowing it hasn't run in a few years and was told it ran good and was properly winterized before being stored and I haven't had it in the water yet ,would the low oil light on dash cause it to not let it run ,because there is still a few inches of oil in resivor but light is on ,just wondering

The oil light is just a warning. You will love that boat once you get it on the water. I just got mine up and running and its a blast.

I'm in Sault Ste. Marie ,is that going to be permanent fix or just buy some time till they can be changed

The valve goes on the 12mm line, and the oil that fills your crank case is not pumped it is gravity fed, and also does not really flow it is only an oil bath for the gears that spin the rotary valve. Your oil pumps are fed by the 8mm line wich then feed the small oil lines that you should replace after it sitting that long, and the oil filters in the 8mm lines for that matter. You then should premix the fuel and make sure the oil lines fill back up on their own. Keep us posted

Got the boat running it has been a blast ,thanks for the help everyone
