I'd like to hear from anyone who had this boat this year. was the extra power worth it? did it suck more fuel? any mechanics out there see any issues with them this year?

I had the 215 hp sportster 150, I would bet that the extra power with the 255 would be more fun, WOT is a bit more and the hole shot I would think would be better, don't know what the price difference would be between the two, but I would like to say that my boat had 255hp than 215. I just traded in my sportster for an 09 challenger with the 255hp motor, I have 13 hours on it and the power is nice even with a bigger boat, I would be okay to say that the hole shot on my challenger is close to the same as the old sportster. The motors are built the same if it is a 215hp or 255hp and BRP has been making them for a long time, the only difference is the supercharger the 255hp has a different blower wheel to make up that extra power, so as far as reliability it is the same motor, and I'm sure that the 255 sucks up more gas, but probably not that much more to worry about

Are you sure that's all they did? I thought they massaged the head a little bit and played with the innercooler as well. Actually can't remember what all they did but the list was fairly extensive. Not to say the 255 is any less reliable but not a simple as a widget change. Also someone on here said the 255 was a 'major' gas hog comp to the 215.

All boats are gas hogs.... Let me restate that

All boats that are fun are gas hogs. If fuel economy is an important factor in buying a boat, start looling at kayaks or canoes:rofl::biggrinjester:

Not sure if they did anything with the heads, just saying that it is the same main motor design as previous years, the intercooler is mounted external and maybe made bigger to handle the extra heat, a dealer told me that it was a difference in the supercharger to gain that extra 40hp, but what do they know:). You can deffintly get more useful info. on the forum
