I found a 04 speedster for a great price but will be driving 5 hr to meet him. There are no lake in the area but the pics and everything this guy has said seems good. What do I need to look for? I know the obvious, does it start, idle, gauges work, look at pump for impeller nicks, hull damage. What else?

I plan to do a compression test but never done one on a 4 stroke. Take one plug out at a time, remove all coil packs and push throttle wide open and crank? I know on the jet skis you hold the throttle wide open, is this the same for a boat throttle?

Thanks guys

You dont say which motors it has in it? If it was the 430, i would look up how to check the superchargers. i honestly wouldnt be comfortable without a water test. As far as general stuff, just check it out good. Look for cosmetic issues. Make sure all functions work. The bilge pumps on these tend to have a lot of issues and not work. The tachs also have a lot of problems. Its all easy to fix though, but i would use any small stuff like that to work the price down. What kind of price are they asking?

Also how do you tell what version you have? When you look for parts for the 04 it lists V1 or V2.

Thats a pretty reasonable price. Did you check it out yet? I havent figured out yet how to tell the difference on whether its first or 2nd edition. I would guess something in the Hull ID. I need to call sea doo customer service and see if anyone knows. Ive bought some miscellaneous parts and so far they have all been the same.
