Hi, great forum & topics. I'm new to this forum & considering purchasing either a 255 GTX or the speedster 150 as my better half prefers boats & to stay dry. I would be mainly using the boat in a bay with light choppy conditions, sometimes white caps. Can anyone shed light on how the boat will go in these conditions as the alternative to the jet boat will be a bowrider tinny:(.
cheers Davo

I can't speak for the Speedster 150 but I have the 97 Challenger, (14'6) which is basically the older version of your boat, just a couple inches shorter I believe. I've been out in our local bays and white caps were too much for the boat, IMO. It beat the crap out of us and I wouldn't do it again. Too slow of a speed still beat us and soaked us occasionally and too much speed and the boat was constantly jumping the chop. I couldn't tell you if there is any design difference in the hull between the 150 and my 97 that would make a difference but I'd be interested in what 150 owners are experiencing as well. Length, width and hull design of the boat plays a big part of how it slices through the water.

150 speedster in chop

i own a speedster 150 and it handles chop great until u get to whit caps then it is one bumpy ride. if u like launching in and out of the water in rough waters than its the boat for u. u can always cruise through big white caps at 10mph which i have done but its not fun. so i'd recommend something else unless ur not afraid to get a little wet in rough water
