hello guys, i am thinking to buy new 2012 speedster 150. Now i am in doubt between 255 hp or 155 hp. i have read lot of posts over various forums about their fuel consumption. Can anybody tell me about fuel consumption of both models with moderate driving and cruising.

thanks

My stats only go up to 2005 for ski. Just google both models and compare stats. but a 255 sc will drink a he** lot more fuel than the 155.

More speed = more power = more fuel$

My experience of the 155 is 45 litres per 100kms of continous motoring at about 5000-5500 rpm (45-50 kph) and two passengers. This translates into about 4 hours of non-stop motoring at 3/5ths throttle. When skiing / wakeboarding I can get up to 10 hours i.e. 2-3 days.

Loaded with 4 adults and the 155 is sluggish and loses speed on turns.

It has just enough power to pull a 90kg single skier (deep water start).

The 155 does ok (depends what you want to use it for), but I probably would have bought the 215 or 255 if I had my time over...

you will not like the performance of the 155 with 4 people in the boat. Just get the 255 and don't worry about gas. You'll prob use about 40% more fuel, but it's not that big of a deal. The extra power is worth it.

Thanks for yours reply, you have mentioned that with 4 person on board 155 hp she losses power on turns... are we speaking about hard turns or normal turns.

when i am alone or plus 1 passenger on board 155 hp can i do such things showed on video (please follow link bellow)

With one person yes. With two, you could definitely pull the same hard turns and 180s / 270s but the exit out (hole shot) would be slower.

With four passengers if you turn 10-20 degrees your rpm will drop a couple of hundred and provided you give it a bit more gas you won't lose speed. However, if you pulled a 45-90 degree turn you'd wipe 1/3 of your speed off. You'd have to virtually redline it to keep your speed up.

A few months back I swapped the impeller to a Skat Track Swirl (3 blade). It didn't do as much for acceleration as I had hoped, however it eliminated the loss of speed on tight turns problem. Of course this came at the cost of top speed. The OEM impeller gets you around 80-85 kph, the Skat Tack dropped a good 5 kph.

The 155hp just does it for us. We mainly use ours for skiing which if you stick to a driver, spotter and skier it can handle it. A fourth person in the boat with a heavy single skier is pushing it. Anyway, that was the boat our budget allowed at the time and also it was the largest boat the could fit in our townhouse garage!

As someone else mentioned, the supercharger engines aren't too much worse on fuel than the normally aspirated ones up to around 4000-5000 rpm.

I saw your other post about lack of refueling stations. You can always carry a couple of jerry cans. The ski locker in the floor (which can't fit skis) can hold 5 litre jerry cans (you could probably put 10 in there!). Also the storage bin can hold another 20 litres.
