Sorry......I posted this is the wrong forum.

I was out on the lake today, and I noticed that suddenly my speedometer stopped working. (challenger) Can someone give me some direction in fixing this?? Thanks......Have read somewhere about sensors. Don't know what that is.

Thanks for your response in advance. Hopefully it is not a big deal.

On the rear of the seadoo is a little paddle wheel. If you look you will find 3 wires leading into the hull and end up at the spedo. At the connection just inside the Hull un plug it, and test 2 wires with a multi meter. 1 wire is for a temperature guage that might not be on your model, the other 2 will send resistance to the spedo to make it register. Spin the small paddle wheel to get a reading. If no reading it is bad. When you get a reading follow to the guage and unplug the connection use a multi meter again and see if you get any resistance again like at the rear by the sender. If you get resistance then the guage is bad. The guage can't be tested. you'll have to replace it.
Most times the plug connections are dirty or the sensor is bad in the rear.

Karl, thanks for getting back to me. Okay......I have spotted the paddle wheel. I don't see the 3 wires. I see one wired going into the hull. But inside the hull, I have no clue how to get to it, as I see my exhaust, and not where the wires are coming into. I apologize for sounding ignorant, but thanks for working with me (smile)

I will look at my shop manual, have but haven't found this yet.

You're appreciated greatly!

Inside the hull is the covered 3 wires that plug into a connector. You need to locate the 3 wires and check it there. :)

how do get in there.............am I looking under the exhaust?? I will hang upside down again....

The wire should be just inside the area by the spedo plate. It isn't the easiest to get to...

okay........I found it (I think) but it is not 3 wires. It has 2.

Test the side on the wheel first........think I got it. Now it is to learn how to use the multimeter (ha) It has so many numbers to turn it to.

Your help is awesome!!

On some seadoo seadoo added an extra wire for the temp sensor...yours does not so just test the 2 for ohms, then spin the wheel. It's the almost h design on the dial of the multi meter...or...you could cheat and look in the manual that came with the meter...:)

Karl

Thanks Karl, we just bought this multi meter. totally new to us. Still trying to figure out what you meant by closes to an "h". And looking in the manual still doesn't talk our language. But that I may have to just figure out (lol)

Another question........If I wanted to clean out that sensor connection. What could I spray into it to clean it???

Thanks,
