Speedometer doesn't work

Hey guys,

I recently got my 97 Challenger and the speedo doesn't work. They guy I got it off said it worked last season but this season it didn't work. Is it just a cable that goes to these things? How can I check to see if the cable is bad or if it even has a cable. I have no idea how these things check speed. If they are all electronic like motorcycles I would imagine it would be just change the speedo for a new one. If you guys know please let me know.

Dan, the speedo is a magnetic paddle wheel, you'll find in the back of the boat on the starboard side of the ride plate. It has a wire that runs into the hull with a connector.

Un-plug it and connect your multi meter to it and have someone spin it or turn it yourself if you can and watch to see if it generates a singal.

You can also check the fuses up front, under the storage compartment. You pull the box and it will be under there.:cheers:
