Speed Sensor On a 2006 GTI

I recently bought a 2006 GTI and am very impressed with it as it is my first ski.
As there is no original speedo with this model I purchased a speed sensor from a dealer on Ebay.
Is it just a simple case of connecting it to the original wiring in the ski and then have it programmed.

supposedly the wiring harness is already good for it and it just needs to be plugged in, no programing required. The sensor should come with all the mounting hardware, etc. You will have to drill a hole in the stern I do believe.
