 SPEAKING of gas; I have heard from half the mechanics I have used to work on my 2001 Chalenger w/ dual 85 hp rotax engines to always use premiun (89 octn) and the other half say no, always use regular(87 octn), premium might burn up the engine. What do ya all say?

what does it say in your manual? there could be a sticker next to the gas cap that says what to use. Mine says 87 minimum but premium is recomended.

The majority of seadoo's are recommended to run on 87 octane as the engines are tuned to run on that rating fuel. Unless your engine is experiencing detonation or is modified than using a higher octane fuel is wasting your money. The extra octane is just exhausted with all the rest of the unburned fuel. All Super Chargers require 91 octane. It's best to check your owners manual for the octane rating required for your seadoo.

Octane....

No....the manual states that the SC and SCIC 1503 use the 91 octane fuel as a minimum requirement.

Oil injection 2 strokes?....bah , use only regular fuel. Dirty noisy and inefficient (but powerful) 2 stroke doesn't really deserve premium gas.

You guys with superchargers are probably condemned to using the high octanes.

JPX- Reading through your post on setting the HSA's & LSA's... is that clockwise from the viewpoint of the picture? (Where the HSA is below the LSA?) Thanks for clearing that up!

In JPX's carb post the carbs are upside down...The hoses are at the top and the carb linkage is at the bottom with the carbs on the seadoo.

I used regular 87 octane when i first filled her up. Now i switched to 93 octane and it does run better. But then again, i just changed the oil and the spark plugs.

As with all screws, the direction is relative to looking at the screw from ITS top.

It is true on the 787/800 motors. On the 717/720 motors, that is the view you have of the carbs from the top of the hull. :boxing_smiley: :) :)
