Sparkplug wires

I joined the premium service and downloaded the 96 sp manual and was able to fix most of my problems and got it started. In doing this I pulled one of the plug wires from the cap. Can I just push it back in and put a new clamp on it?
It would not stay running but I figure that may be the plugs or bad gas.

If you have enough wire clip 1/4 in. off the end, (this gets rid of the burnt end of the wire) if you look into the end of the boot where the wire is inserted, it has a screw in it, screw the boot onto the wire then refasten it.

Zip tie the wire back to the boot. It holds it really well.
