I have taken my 97 challenger out 2 times this yr and the spark plugs keep fouling out. Before I winterized it last yr it ran great. When I change the plugs it runs great for awhile then its almost as if they get wet and the moter breaks up. The only thing i can think of is when i winterized it, i sprayed alot of fogging oil in the carbs cause it took forever to stall out and maybe its the fogging oil thats getting all over the plugs. Does this sound accurate? and what can i do to clean out the oil?

Pull off the carburetors and clean them being careful not to damage or tear the diaphragms or you'll need to buy new rebuild kits.

i am having the same problem on my 97 challenger 1800. i just rebuilt the carbs and one motor is running great. the other motor was the one i was initially having troubles with and it fouls plugs in just a few hours. this weekend it was running pretty good until i got all the way up in the rpm's then it would back off and die. i used it all day yesterday just keeping away from the high rpms, but throughout the day it took more and more to get it started. by the end of the day, the motor died and now it wont start back up. i checked the weedless and nothing was in there, i reached as far as i could and nothing. but when i felt around in the nozzle or whatever it is coming out the back i found a piece of ruber. now that the boat is out of the water that motor sounds different than the other one when you try to start it, it almost has like a slight ring, so i dont know what is going on.

G'day, either you are injecting too much oil or too much fuel, check the settings on your oil injector pump, it has lines on it that are ment to line up when throttle is in idle position. Check the high speed screw setting it is normally screwed all the way in i think.
The peice of rubber may have been a peice of your wear ring, if so the ringing could be the impeller glancing off the ring.
I had the ringing sound when i ran my motors on the trailor and found that when i greased the drive shaft after pulling the jet pump off it went away!!
