Spark Plug Wire Ohm Check

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could explain the ohm check process on the spark plug wires for a 1993 Seadoo SP. The manual shows a resistance of 9k-15k ohms. I am not getting anywhere close to that. Not sure what the deal is. I have bought some of the 7mm spark plug cable to replace my cables, but its resistance is next to nothing as well. Is this spark plug wire appropriate to use?

The wire it self, shouldn't have hardly any resistance, since Seadoo uses a solid cor wire. The 9K to 15K resitance will be across the primary side of the coil. (spark plug wire to ground)

I am not able to get any reading, (complete resistance) on either of my 2 ski's. I don't know what I could be doing wrong, (end of spark plug cable attached to plug and ohm meter on bare boot end of cable and then to a known good ground on engine)? If I am testing accurately then what would the faulty component be?

This is after I just replaced cables, which seems to have fixed my spark problems, now I am just wondering why I can't seem to get the resistance reading I'm suppose to?

OK... I just looked at the schematic for the early skis... and the coil is hooked to the CDI. SO... you will have to directly check the coil. (not to ground)
