spark plug question

Hey all, I was wondering, is there anything better than the NGK BR8ES that my XP's call for? I did a cross reference on them, and I found that Accel makes one, #142. I fouled a plug out, and here is my ???. I could take the plug that wasn't getting any fire in the ski, put it on a plug lead on the other matching ski to confirm, and it still has no fire, BUT, I can take that same dead plug and hook it to my 81 Yamaha 3 wheeler and it has GREAT spark? I can put a new plug back in the ski, and it gets fire once again. ALSO, I have a air gap tester I made for testing spark, set at 7/16", the Sea Doo's will not jump that gap, but my outboard boat will, and so will my 3 wheeler. Is this why the gap is so small on the Sea Doo's because they have a weaker ignition system? They both run perfect by the way, I am not saying anything is wrong with them, I was just curious if someone could explain it to me.

I'm not sure what you are asking, but I wouldn't use another brand or type of spark plug other than the BR8ES, thats what SeaDoo recommends and that's what I use. If you are having trouble with going through spark plugs, it's pretty much normal, the Rotax engine does produce a relatively weak spark, but it's also the nature of a two stroke to foul plugs. It's wouldn't be unusual to go through a couple of sets a season.

You can use an NGK BR8ETX which is an iridium tipped plug but I don't think you will see any difference in performance or spark plug life, and it's 8.00ea, vs. 2.00ea. Also you can use BR7ES, which is one range colder if you are burning up spark plugs.

Personally, I think it's a waste of money to use anything except the BR8ES. I hope this answers your question.

I'll make it simple.

NGK is the only spark plugs that can take the abuse of a 2-stroke. I have no idea why... but my +30 years of playing with 2-strokes... that's just an observation I've made. I've tried the other national brands (AC, Champion, etc) and they just dont' hold up, and foul quicker.

As far as a "Better" plug... here again... there isn't a "Better" plug. The new types of plug (Iridium, Platinum, titanium, etc) They use smaller electrodes, and foul quickly. (And are more expensive)

So... just stick to the $2 "BR" plugs. If you are tuned right... they will last a season.
