had the ski out today ran pretty good for about an hour. It did die on me a WOT but started back up after a couple of mins.

After an hour it started to bog bad so I headed back in and put it on the trailer and pulled the plug very wet I could not tell in it was water or gas take a look at it. Also can anyone tell me what these small balls are in the plug? does the ski have any small bearings that are comming apart?xp plug 0819.JPG

That looks like what happens with a detonation problem...those small ball like things are pits from the piston dome.

It might be a good idea...That compression is kinda low too. It's better to check it out before you seize it up and it's scrap.

pulled heads

pulled the Head and it doesnt look too bad .It did seem pretty wet thought. If my head gasket was leaking would it cause the plugs to foul? Take a look at the pics

that is piston damage around the edge of it. the pits in the outside ring of the head is where all the little balls hammered into the surface of it. mashed between piston and head. it will need done. but it is already paid for. put the head back on and get the rest of season out of it. clean your fuel filters. lean fuel in that hole can raise cyl temp to where it can do that. too much advance will too. mebbe retard timing 2 degrees. you will lose a lil performance, but right now you are looking to extend it's life.

that one cylinder has had detonation.. you need to find the root of the problem,,

could be simple bad plug, timing isuue, or plugged/lean jetting.

I would not "hammer" on it if you put it back together to finish the season,, if that piston implodes,, it will make a real mess and cost alot $$$$$$

good luck

If it was my PWC, I would do a top end. Hone the cylinders, Mic the piston to cylinder bore clearance, replace the pistons, rings, gasket, clean the carbs and change the plugs. Why take the chance of blowing it up and having to get a total rebuild or engine replacement. Just be sure to figure out why it did what it did.

Ya I'm going to park it for the season and do a top end rebuilt. the mag piston has allot of play its flopping around in the cylinder so its done.
Thanks for all the great advice I have learned alot
