the 717 in my Sportster is in need of a rebuild, and I'm weighing options and trying to decide a few things, would love to hear advice on:
1. Entire or Top end only? She's tired. Did not do a compression check, but it feels sluggish, and unstable at low rpms.
If I do the works, what and where should I get the crank? (fyi, I suspect the inner oil seals are seeping)
2. If Top End, should I attempt working inside the boat and not pull the engine? I dont like that thought, at all. But not pulling the pump is mildly attractive.
3. Actually, as I type this and read it back, I need to pull the engine and do the entire rebuild. The seals are seeping and that is a decision maker.
Still, looking for advice regarding parts sourcing.
