On my 97 SPX it uses a lot of oil compared to my 97 GTX.

On start up and when it is getting warmed up it smokes quite a bit.

Is there any way to lean out the amount of oil the injector system is putting into the machine?

I bought it used and runs great but smokes...... it does have aftermarket air filters and the carb has been re jetted and i think a new spark arrester has been installed.

any ideas to fix the smoking/oil consumptin issue or just go with it? Doesn't run bad... just smokes and uses quite a bit of oil.

hi. it isn't the oil injection. it is the center crank seals. they (try to) keep the oil in the rotary valve drive gear area out of the induction area of the crankcase. they start to weep over time. if you are smoking constantly, you probably need a crankshaft, which means you need a motor rebuild. try pinching off the oil injection feed line and pre-mixing, but you will see it still smokes. the way you mentioned it is worse first start of the day makes me sure that is the problem.
