Purchased 2 used about 28 hrs 2005 RXP. Previous owner said change the oil with syn 10w40 so I did. Went out for a ride after leak checking the engine compartment while running using the hose adaptor. Put in and rode with the learning key about 10 minutes then the "check eng" light came on, turn ski off and waited then started and rode back to ramp to load. when loading on trailer notice an excessive amout of white smoke from the exhaust. What does this mean.

I believe that the RXPs have closed loop cooling which mean they run antifreeze, White smoke is usually a bad thing I hate to say it but sounds like you have water geting into your cylinders. new head gasket might fix this.

I am by far no expert. Good luck

for starters synthetic oil is the wrong oil to use. your ski calls for mineral oil. Synthetic oil wrecks the ceramic clutch washers in the superchargers. You should rebuild both superchargers. As for the white smoke, Whats the oil look like? If you have a bad head gasket you should see coolant mixed in the oil.

As i am new to these jet skis can you explain why synthetic oil will cause damage when mineral oil wont .Normally synthetic is far superior to mineral .
The supercharger shaft and bearings and also the turbine its self if they get damaged due to using synthetic oil then thats pretty bad as i bet lots of owners will put in synthetic .There should be a big sticker on the engine warning folks about this and as i did not get an owners manual !! it might say in it .

the reason why is syn oil has friction modifiers in it. The friction modifiers will wreck the clutch washers in the supercharger.

Ok thanks for that so is it possible that these can be replaced without having to change bearings and turbine rotor.

no with 28hr only thing you should need to replace would be the washers. full rebuild is gear, bearings, shaft & washers. you should never need to replace the impeller wheel.
