Has anyone had any success mounting Smart Tabs or Mobster Tabs on a Challenger 2000? They look like a great, simple idea, but the contoured transom with the extended swim platform on the C2K looks like a possible deal breaker for mounting. Very interested if anyone has done this.

I seem to recall.... a few years ago... someone mounted them on a merc seadoo, and said they didn't seem like they did anything.

I guess they just moved too much to control the boat.

I have a set of stainless Smart Tabs on my StarCraft runabout. They work very well on that boat. It planes up much quicker than without them. I considered them for my Challenger 1800 but decided no. I had a big problem with porpoising and needed the ability to make adjustments on the fly. After a "trial" of the Place Diverter trim kit, I went with Lenco electric trim tabs.
Good luck.

The Lencos look like a good option. The Smart Tabs are attractive because of the easier installation and lower cost, but the electric tabs certainly look preferable to some of the hydraulic options, and as you say, they should provide precise control.
