Slipping throttle lever on Challenger

Hi all,
First.....thanks for the info about finding a power source for my depth gauge. Worked great.

My port throttle lever won't stay in position. Too loose. I have taken the throttle/shift package out but no matter what I try I can't get any tension on the lever.

Please help.

Thanks.

There is a set screw to tighten it. It is NOT intuitive, but it is indicated in the shop manual. Hopefully someone that recalls where it is will chime in. I had the same issue and fixed it, but I do not recall which screw it was.

Here's a screenshot from a 96 manual, Im not sure what year you have, but it should be relatively the same. 412177777.jpg

On my manual (for 99 Sportster 1800) it's reversed, and screw #1 onthe picture is marked as (inner lever) instead of outer... weird.

I just tightend mine 2 days ago, I have a 97 speedster but im guessing they are the same. I read a few post on here and finally figured it out. After pulling the assembly up, look at center axis of where all three levers rotate. ( think fixed axle in center point of where all 3 lever rotate ) There is a chrome screw that is some what recessed and easy to overlook. This should tighten up the port throttle. Hope my description didn't make it more confusing. Good luck, it sure makes it nice when you can take hand off throttle to enjoy your favorite beverage.......

Thanks all......I tried two adjustment screws on the shift side and nothing. I tried the chrome screw in the center, again nothing. I don't remember if I turned the screw on the starboard side tight but I'll try that again. Mine is a 1998. I'll let you know.

Just tightened up the 3 plastic adjustment screws and the chrome screw and still is loose. I think I'll try to take it apart and check it out.

Thanks
