Skipping under throttle

Just replaced motor in a 94 GTS. Replaced all the old gas and oil with new. Motor starts great but when you go half to full throttle it starts to skip. Any one out there with ideas?

Clean the carbs... or filters in the carbs at least...

What is "skipping"?

Mine does the "buhd-dah-bing-bee-da-beeeng-bee-da-bing-bing-bing" at high speeds. Not a steady run like a 4-stroke, but that running that sounds like it is missing every now and then. Is that what you are talking about?

I just figured that every 2-stroke I had did it, so it must be "normal"...

I'll try the carb this weekend.

Maybe skipping was not the right word. It's more like missing or popping (no back firing) at half to full throttle. Runs great at idle.

I bet it is the carbs, do a good clean up and it should be ok.
