ski shaft removal tips?/ cant get pin/key out of smile slot

okay, let brother in law drive, pulling a tube, now I have a L shape ski shaft, I have it loose, removed rubber strap, I am unable to figure out how to get the clip out of the smiley face slot. gave up, can you tell me?
oh, this is on a 2006 seadoo speedster wake edition 430

it looks like on parts list it should have fallen out when the rubber strap was removed. its called a spring. I am unable to get top ski shaft out of the lower tube.

I figured it out, I finally got a pair of pliers and pulled hard as I could and it came out, not sure how I am gonna force it back in on the install. I ordered the ski shaft today for the retractable ski pylon.
