ski module?

Hi,

I have a new GTI 2011, it says the ski module is optional. I see them for $129 on BRP Sites.

So my questions are:

1.) Anyone used the ski option on the newer skis, is it worth it? (I had trouble pulling my kids out on my old ski at the right pace)

2.) Anyone ever installed one, is it easy?

thanks
Joel

You talking about the pop up ski pylon? Its not really necessary. They have a tow hook if you wanna tow a tube. I dont really see anyone skiing behind you.

No, there is an actual module that activates ski mode, allows you to pull up at a given slope and max speed, there are 5 settings. Its some little chip you install that activates it. Had a question about the pylon also. WHy not about sking behind me, I see people skiing and wakeboarding all the time behind seadoos

yes

Did you ever get this?

yes, got it at the end of last season didnt get a chance to ski/wake with it because water was too cold, seemed to work as advertised when cruising around, hoping to really test it out this weekend, also got the ski pole over the winter and the depthfinder, im totally tricked out now :)

Will post an update as soon as I give it a good run.

I got this as well, it came with cruise control module, I installed it myself, Im happy to answer any questions anyone has.

Great and thanks!
Is the install simple? Any special tools/knowledge? Did it come with documentation?
Is there any documentation describing what the module does with any detail?
I think I get that there are several predefined take-off settings, but what about max speed with each? For example, setting 1 is a slow launch and tops out at 30 mph.
Can you program top speed per setting?
If you can program such things, do the custom settings stay programmed or are they reset after power off?
Thanks in advance.

Now the one I got is cruise control with the ski mode built in. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, Ive been a mechanic for 10 years or so. But for the once in a while wrench turner it could be a little tricky. You need to run a few wires from the module to the fuse box. It's not horribly hard, but anyone who isn't confident should get help. My cruise mode also included installing buttons on the bars. I believe you can download the instructions on sea doo's website, it also comes with some fairly nice instructions. There are 5 different launch modes, 1 being slow, 5 being the fastest. They come preset with a MPH for each mode, but they can be changed. The programmed settings do reset after you turn off ski mode, or turn the ski off, but it is simple to put it back where you want it.

Thank you very much!
You answered my questions.
I have a 2011 gtx and all I would need is the actual module, not the additional handlebar button integration.
Seems like the install is reasonable.
The modes and programming response was exactly what I was looking for.
Again, thank you.

used mine this weekend

Worked great, my son is about 120lbs, and wakeboarded fine, used ramp 2 with top speed of 18 mph, you can tweak the top speed up and down while going. I didnt install mine, took it to dealer, was too complicated for me, but im not super mechanical.
