Simultaneous Engine Shutdown Challenger

I have a 1999 Challenger 1800. I recently removed and rebuilt both engines following my son's error in not removing the drain plug prior to a period of heavy rain. Both engines fire right up and run smoothly for approx. two minutes after which they shut down simultaneously. R/R the lanyard key and they once again fire right up for another two minutes and then quit. I cleaned the ignition lanyard key and post without result. What would make them shut down like this? Full tank, not overheating, plenty of oil in the tank... Help.

Post.........

If both engines are running well, no problems, then they both just quit at exactly the same time; the only common link between them is the lanyard and post.

The problem is the magnetic post is weak, its losing communication with the mpems. The lanyard has a ROM (read only memory) chip inside that communicates with the mpems through the post. The post uses magnetics for communications. When it becomes weakened, it loses that communication intermittently. Replace it and I think you'll find a set of engines that will run all day long!..........

Oh, BTW, the same thing happened to my 97 model Challenger. I worked for weeks trying to figure it out. Then, figured, through process of elimination, there was nothing else left but the post. I replaced it and for the last two seasons, it's never shut back down on me!.
