I had a great Saturday on the lake, lots of kneeboarding, tubing etc...98 GTX ran perfect!

Sunday was a different story though! All my fault I have to confess. Started off putting the Doo in the water...forgot to put the drain plugs in at the back - After 40 minutes riding, couldn't get past about 20mph - Got back to lake edge, checked the engine compartment, realised the plugs were out. water was just beneath the battery - Also, the air intake hoses were higher than the water line, so do not think I ingested any water. Drained the water, and the ski ran perfect.

About an hour later, I got a 'MAINT' warning flash up. I know I need to go and check if there are error codes, which I will do in a couple of days when I get back to the Doo. Is there any likely damage from taking on that water - I'm sure it did not get near electrics. It could be just a coincidence that the 'MAINT' came on and is just a service indicator (I hope).

Second, my spotter on the back didn't notice the luminous bright obvious rope that was about to go under the ski - I was running in neutral, waiting to get my kneeboarder back on again - All of a sudden it stalls - Tried to start, but realised it was the rope.

I got towed back to dock (300meters) at about 3mph going forward ;-)

Would any damage occur from towing that I need to be aware of - I did not 'pinch' the hose.

Once out of the water, I was able to cut about 8ft of rope from the impellor shaft - There was about 4 inches that got through the impellor. I freed it all up and started - It fired up straightaway, shot the remaining 4 inches of rope out of the back and revved up fine.

I have not water tested it since, anything I should be aware of?!

Thanks for all your helpful advice in advance

canoes are fun maybe you should try one ! haha kidding but yeah i had my first forgetting the plug incident the other day and made a fool of myself trying to hop on it and i tipped fast because of the weight difference with the water filled bilge.

If you got the ski running following the flooding, you are probably okay there.

And since you noticed the rope right away, you might not have bent the shaft or caused any serious pump damage. Just watch out for excessive vibration in the shaft did get bent.

And regarding the towing, you probably are okay without the hose pinch. Doesn't sound like you were being towed that fast for too long anyway.

Ride on.

Thanks for your response guys!

Just the reassurance I needed - True test will be on Sunday when it goes into the water for a run. Fingers crossed!
