Severe Cavitation

Hi All. Took my 98 challenger 1800 out this past week and drove it for a couple of hours rather hard but when I stopped for a few minutes when I took off it would barely move and would only make 40 mph. It seems to be both sides. any suggestions? I feel it is odd both sides would go like that. all was great up until that moment.

Is one tach going higher than the other?

Do they respond equally or one rev up must faster?

If both engines are equal it is fuel related and or both intakes sucked something into the impeller.

the engines rev equally to 7000 rpms but it goes no where barely. It just slowly got to 40 mph

Do the engines slowly get to 7k or almost instantly?

as it would normally so rather quickly
