Hey guys i have a 2006 GTX 4 Tech and was wondering how often i should service it...ive heard between 50hrs and 100hrs so am thoroughly confused because its sitting on 51hrs so it might need one.

Thanks

Service.....

You should do a full service on your Doo at least once every riding season. For those who have riding season all year, then you need to pick a month out that you can dedicate to doing your service.

The shop manual does specify a specific service at the 50 hour mark. The oil shows that it's changed at the first ten hours then after that, every storage season or 100 hours, whichever comes first.

You should go over all your seals, motor mounts, coolant, oil, .............There were 4 GTX's made that year, so I don't know if you've got one of the supercharged or not......

You don't necessarily have to take it to a shop but if you've never changed the oil, or done a hydrometer test of the coolant, then maybe you should at least do those......then, you can work into the other things like checking motor mounts etcl....

Its a non super charged model GTX. 155HP. So do a serice at 50hrs or once a season? I was just confused because the book says 100hrs but a friend told me 50.
After the 50 hr service should i do it every 100hrs after that?

Cheers

Confusing...

I can see how this is confusing because the manual does state the oil change at the 10 hour mark then not again until the 100 hour mark. But, if you read the comments to the side, it'll say "or before storage"....which means, you should service the craft at least once a season. There are only a few skis that would go over the 100 hour mark in one season. Those are normally the "rentals".....

Just try to get in a routine to set aside one month every year to service it. You should be fine.

You are suppose to check the oil daily, before you ride it. When you do, look at the oils color. If it's really dark and smells like it's burnt....then it's past time for a change.

I think the middle of "winter" sounds like the best time for its yearly service then. I dont think i would get near 100hrs in a summer. Thanks for the help snipe. Ive got a guy that comes to my place to do it and is good on price so i will just get him round when im all doen for the year to make sure its all good.

Thanks again

Overkill.....

Yeah, that's cool.....but, don't go into overkill either. All motors need upkeep, whether it's your car or weedeater......the ski is the same. The engine is a super high tech piece of equipment but for all that it is, it kinda takes care of itself, using sensors and electronics. So, for the most part, keep it clean, lubed and pump and engine integrity and she'll last you a long time!..........

:agree: I usually do mine once a year and thats when it comes out of storage and i want it ready for water. I just make sure that the oil and drive shaft is greased everytime i take it out and i havent had any problems.
