Hey guys, i have a 1994 XP with a nice sunbaked cracking vinal seat because some moron didnt know how to spend $100 and cover his ski. been trying to find a seat for it with not much luck yet.

I ran across these precut vinal seat covers on ebay for about $30-$40. has anyone in here bought one and put it on themselves? if so was it hard...and is it even worth the effort or is it a disaster waiting to happen?

thanks!!

Check your local upholstery shop for a price...with what you won( e-Bay Cover but don't tell them that) or they supply the material. It might be worth it to have them do it instead.

i have not bought the material off ebay yet. i put the seat in the tahoo tonight to take to the local shop tomorrow to see what they charge. i was curious incase they come back saying like $200 lol

Ask them after they give you a price what they charge it you supply a finished kit...tell them you might be getting one as a gift...yea that's it a gift. Combined it might be cheaper in the long run, then having them supply everything.

he said $65 if i supply the material. i told him i can get it for about $35 -$40 off ebay he said do that because he is going to charge alot more for material then that..

i've gotten a seat skin off ebay $35.00 for my 96xp and it was a little difficult to put on but i managed to strech it and it seems to look good i mean really all you need is some spray aheasive and staples that are good to hold in plactic the first thing you do is remove the stapes on the front of the seat then work your way to the back to get all the staples out next you lay the new seat skin flat on the floor and spray the ahesive on the back of the skin and as well as the coushin next place the skin over the seat and i started at the back and streched it to the front staple the back and work your way to the front keep the skin pulled so you dont get slack in it finally strech it over the front and staple i used about 100 staples and you'll want to get the stapes on the back of the plastic to hold so take a part of pilars and push them do so they dont back out . i'd also recomend that you do it when you have time to spend on it and it should look good it took about an hour and 15 minutes to ge the old one off and the new one on.

I kinda like they way they look, some of the covers are a step up in my opinion from the OEM covers sea doo now puts out. I ordered two OEM seat covers from sea doo last year and they came without the sea doo logo on them.. When I asked they said it came from the factory, and that is all they had.. I later found this web site and kicked around getting them...

Also take note that if you take it to a local upholstery shop, generally they don't work on water craft so ask them nicely to use only stainless steel staples, just point out that its going to see a lot of water and they will understand...
