On the 2000 xp all you do is lift the front storage compartment up and remove the storage tray to access engine compartment. Lifting the seat will only get you to a cap in the hull so you can get to the fuel baffle. If you are trying to get there you can do it like this:
Take the four hex screws out from under the back of the seat, under the grab bar. Loosen the clamp on the yellow boot and hold it down and loosen the clamp on the black boot and push it down. Be careful with the clamp on the black boot cause it will want to slide all the way down and it's a B to get it back up. There is a bolt that hold your seat down and you can use a 17mm wrench and 17mm deepwell socket to take that off.
Open the front storage compartment and take off your gas cap. The whole seat will tilt up. Put a broom handle there to hold it up while you work. There is a big black cap on the hull under the seat that you can pop off to gain access to the fuel baffle and tank.
