sealants

I really need a forum called "WAY off topic" for this question but I figure there's alot of expertise here about using sealants on various materials so I'll give it a shot. On the roof of my house I have a PVC pipe (plumbing vent) that is flashed with a standard prefab aluminum flashing with a rubber boot that is supposed to fit snugly around the PVC pipe. Apparently, it wasn't as snug as it should have been when installed last year (it's got a pretty good gap now) so they sealed it with something that adhered to the rubber boot but not the PVC pipe. I'm looking for suggestions on what I might use that would adhere well to both the PVC and rubber boot.

Flashing cement. Black gooey messy stuff. Maybe RTV? Fashion some galvanized flashing material or they sell prefab collars at HD and Lowes to place over the pipe and use the flashing cement.

Thanks Fractus, but have they changed roof cement? flashing (roof) cement is (was) petoleum based and would deform the rubber. well at least I know it used to be years ago. It worked ok on the older style vent flashings that had lead collars but I've never seen it last long on the rubber collars. I'll have to check out the latest inovations.

on a side note, I was surprised when I sealed my asphalt driveway 2 years ago to find out that the government (who has to stick their nose into everything) forced the industry to change driveway sealer from petoleum based to water based. You need a couple days of dry weather for it to cure. It wasn't SUPPOSED to rain for 3 days when I put it on. Literally 3 minutes after I finished (nine 5 gallon buckets) it started to rain and washed it all off. Needless to say I was not a happy camper.

Jake, yeah the government fries me too. THEY use MC-70 (medium cure 70) liquid asphalt then sprinkle rocks on to touch up pavement here in TX. Yes it ok for THEM but not us...
I bought the sealant at a roofing supplier, not HD last time. He had 3-4 different types in caulking gun sized tubes. I must of used it all; none in the garage so I forgot what it was.

try the sikaflex product that is used to seal the windscreens of cars.I cannot remember it's product number. It stays soft and flexible and won't stuff up the rubber

Ha ha. Goody for me down under.Yep.It's for all windscreens.Ha ha and it still stays sticky after it's put on.Just kidding. The stuff is from the USA.Fractus! it's your stuff mate.It does work

Sikaflex, HD has it in the concrete area. Yellow tube/cartridge with red writing.
