I’ve been working in the forum since 2007, when my two daughters were only a few years old. I found myself in the forum quite a bit as they were in their younger years. Now, they are 8 and 9 and growing so fast, I can barely keep up with them.
My oldest is in soccer again this year and once again, I’ve been asked to assist in coaching duties. Which, I found out as the assistant, it only means you drag the ball bag around and be the target for them to kick at. The team is a coed team.
I’m also back in college, taking a few night courses at a time, trying to work toward my degree. I want to set an example for my children that education is important. I think most of us know, that just because you have a piece of paper, doesn’t mean you’ll get the big money job!...
For these reasons, I can’t seem to keep up with every thread or post in the forum any longer. In 2007, when I started, it was fairly easy to read all the threads and help out. Now, with over 35,000 members, it’s becoming almost impossible to keep up with ALL the new threads. With my added responsibility of taking care of my families growing needs and the requirements of my job and school, I’ll be seen in the forum a lot less in the future. It’s not that I won’t be here, I’ll just be here sporadically, (once a week I’m pretty sure of). I’ll still look forward to reading threads and helping when I can. But spending hours at a time will have to slow down. I think most who have family will understand.
There are several good mechanics here to help out. If you see the reputation of a member in his avatar, that is high, then chances are, he knows his stuff. The reputation comes from compliments from members who have been helped. I usually make sure I acknowledge members who know what they are doing and have been gracious in helping to teach others. Dr. Honda has been very helpful with many members. He was also recently given a “local guide” status. As a local guide, he’s here to help members find their way around the forum, along with his unlimited advice on problems you might face with your PWC/Boat.
Other great mechanics like Chester, Dennis (aka DAWG), Seadooya, Scooper and bills86e have given much of their time to help here too. These 6 are mechanics I’ve worked personally with; have had conversations with. By no means are they the only ones. They are the ones I have at the top of my list, only because I’ve asked favors of them myself, or had one on one contact with.
I just wanted to make this thread, to give a heads up on why you may not be seeing me as much as you have in the past. You’ll see me again… ! I’ll be popping in from time to time. I’m not gone, just kinda on a vacation till I can get more time in my day. Right now, we only have 24 hours. I’m waiting for the earth to rotate on its axis, giving us 26. That way, I’ll have a few extra hours.
Don’t forget, the Seadooforum ride in is this coming Saturday, the 14th. It you haven’t made your plans, do it now!!!! The time will be here and gone before you know it. We had a huge turn out last year and it was a blast. It’s about a 7 or 8 hour drive for me and I’m really hoping to make it again this year. I met some really cool people and got to ride one of those nice supercharged 4-TEC skis. There will be people on hand again this year from local dealerships. So, get there early!!!
