Hope someone could help. I've read posts here with simular problems that have given replies but havnt seen anyone post how they fixed it. Have a Seadoo GTX LTD 1999 that wont start. I was riding all day, then when got it off dock to trailer it wouldnt start (just a click after Dess key beeps). After a couple of tries it started. It started again off the water when I was blowing out the water. Two weeks later and nothing but a click in the solenoid. The battery is new and I recharged it. I also tried jumping solenoid and the 5A fuses are good. Still nothing. The person I purchased from 5 years ago had the same problem and spent about $600 on starter and solenoid, which I would rather not do. I have the manual which makes it look quite simple to replace the starter, however theyre not showing all the obstructions that are preventing me from even seein the starter. Could anyone tell me or provide a link as to how I can access the starter or if possibly it could be something else.

My take is BAD CONNECTIONS. Bad ground. I'd remove the ground at both ends, and grease them, and re-assemble them. Sounds like a corrosion problem.

I had sanded down the terminal connection to battery. I'll try the other end and grease tomorrow. Also, if it's a bad connection why would the solenoid click.

boodoo....I'm assuming that if starter is bad/connections not made, the solenoid still get'n power first, then hit'n the start/stop button, will allow power to travel, hear'n the solenoid click, but that will be it, starter bad/connections, nuth'n else will happen. Or when solenoid bad, will click when button pressed, but nuth'n happen, then jump solenoid, and WHAM, starter turns...

Good ground, battery good, gauges work and two beeps with dess. jumped solenoid and still only clicking. Should I assume next step is starter? Also could I reuse exhaust gasket after I remove it or do I need a new one? And other than the exhaust is there anything else I should prepare myself for, obstacle wise, to get to starter?

Definitely sounds like a starter. If you have jumped the solenoid you eliminate it as the problem. The click means you are getting power to the starter, but it is not spinning. Can you actually see the starter enough to tap it with the handle of a screwdriver while pressing the start button. Sometimes a tap is enough to get it to spin. If tapping allows it to spin, your definitely looking at a starter.

You won't get anything near the starter...it is too tight to do that. Yes if you jumped the solenoid and the battery is fully charged...and the ground is good and tight by the starter on the engine, then the starter needs to be removed and either cleaned, rebuilt or replaced.

Thanks, I'll let you know how I make out.
One more thing before I get started... will I need a new gasket for exhaust or can I reuse?

exhaust gasket. decide when you get the gasket off. but since you are probly buying a starter, another 3 to 20 bucks for the exh gasket isn't gonna make it much more painful.
