Guys, i have a problem with my seadoo.
We have no spark, on all coils.

What method is used to check the distibutor? (The thing what controls the coils)
Are there other things I have to check? In my opinion this is the simplest engine available, no ECU, just 12V and running.

I am hoping you guys can tell me something.

Regards Stefan

Welcome.

Well... honestly... I wouldn't classify the 210 as the most simple engine. When you have fuel issues... you have more things to check. The only difference is... you can fix most problems with basic hand tools. Personaly... I think the 240 EFI is the esiest to work on. It just cost more when you have an issue.

Also... on your ignition... you have 12v on the ECU (so you do have one) and then you have 2 high voltage charging circuits on the stator. One for under 3500 RPM, and one for over.

OK... on to your problem.

If you dont' have a spark on any coil... it could be...

1) The stator has burnt up

2) The wires from the trigger unit have been shorted

3) The ignition ECU could be bad, or doesn't have power on it.

4) The switch boxes could be bad.

5) You lost a ground on any of the electronics.

6) Your lanyard post has gone bad, and you have a ground on the kill line.

7) Could have a cut wire in the harness somewhere. (that's a visual of all the wires)

Since you don't' have power on any coil... I'll assume the coils are OK, since it's unlikely that all of them would burn out all together.

Unfortunately... the ignition on that engine isn't easy to follow, and you need the manual to go though the tests one at a time. But if it was my boat... I would simply pull the wire from the lanyard post, and see if you get a spark again. (Back on the engine, it should be a black/yellow wire as I recall) Then, I would pull the flywheel, and get a visual on the stator, and trigger coils.

As you can see... it's not just "12v and you are running".

Hi Dr. Honda,

thanks for your response!
We managed to do exactly what you mentioned, check the lanyard switch first.....
And what do you think... It gone bad! Fired right up the first time.

thanks!
