Seadoo utopia axle

Hello, I have a 2003 utopia 185. I wanted to convert the wheel hubs on the trailer to surge brakes. I can't check my axle to see if it has a brake plate welded to it since its in storage. Would anyone know if the axle has the plates? Their square with 4 bolt holes.

It should, since most of the bigger trailers used a 3500# axle. But, seadoo changed suppliers based on location, for some of the boat models. SO... unfortunately... you need to check your own axle.

Personally, I wouldn't put on a surge. Way too much work, and don't work very good. Put on electrics, and have total control.

Surge brakes work fantastic,,, But they require some weight to do so. On my 27 foot Searay the surge brakes would actually skid on an aggressive stop.

With the weight of jet skis, electric would be a better way to go.
