Seadoo Trade ADVICE

hey guys, I have a 2004 GTI LE-RFI Seadoo that only has 83 hours of riding on it only problem is the ECEM is trashed and they are $1000 to buy new... So I ran into someone that buys and sells jetskis for a living and he says he has a 1995 yamaha jetski that he's willing to trade straight up. He also mentioned that he's put about a $1000 into the jets and motor so apparently it runs strong.

Just want to hear what some of you have to say about this deal? I know it's 10 years older but it also is running and I don't have to do any work to it to get her out on the water... Is this a fair trade?

thanks GUYS

You're on the wrong forum ask it you should trade a SeaDoo for a WaveRunner. Seriously you're gonna have big trouble getting much for a non running ski, the best thing for you to do is get a new or possibly used ECEM for your ski and get it running. You'll be money ahead. The 95 Yamaha (you didn't say the model), it's maybe worth $2500.00 you figure the numbers.

I think you're being a little generous with the value of that Yamaha Lou. I'm thinking $1500.00 tops no matter what model it is.

Locally... a 95 Yamaha will get you $1700 TOPS with a nice trailer.

If your ski has a good engine, and it's clean... there are $3k worth of parts in it. So... in no way would I trade it. Also... if your ski is in good shape... find a used MPEM for a few hundred, and go run it.

Heres the thing... my seadoo is a 2 stroke and they never sold them in california which is where im located so finding an MPEM for this thing isnt easy

PM minnetonka4me or 99spxxx see if they have a good used MPEM. When I saw 2004 I just assumed a 4-tek, sorry. I still think it's worth while fixing your ski.

I lived in SoCal most of my life... and yes... they sold 2 strokes out there. The only place we couldn't run them (after 2005 ish) was lake mead.

But... regardless... we live it a world now with a global economy. So... because of that... I'm sure you could find an MPEM in about 30 minutes on the net. And honestly... you probably don't have to go much farther than eBay.

They still arent cheap and i dont feel safe buying a used one off ebay bc there arent returns on electronics. ive called all the local shops, dismantlers, and craigslist...

If you get one from minnetonka4me or 99spxxx if it doesn't work you can return it, and probably cheaper than EBay.

Lou

Is it your MPEM or the ECU thats smoked? I'm sure Tonka or his bro can get you going for way less than a grand. Don't look at ebay prices. If I had to buy every part for my boats off ebay I would have sold them a long time ago lol
