We had the opportunity to use a switch today. At first started there was debris in the impeller. We think accorns from mice. The check engine light was on. We ran the IDF three times below it cleared up and the check engine went out. It is still very doggy and only goes about 30 when the top speed was over 50 before. I pulled impeller and the damage is very minor. Does anyone know where the OBD port is on these and if an old scan tool will work out is it very specific to Seadoo to read codes?

When you say damage is minimal, can you provide a photo?

The impeller and wear ring are designed with tight tolerances. Any damage can have a big effect on performance.

There is only a Seadoo specific diagnostic port, which you need either BUDS or CanDoo software to interface with it.

Thank you for those details. We are going to replace the impeller and wearing today and try unhooking the battery to clear the code. Unfortunately, the local dealer is three weeks out with the scanner.

What was the outcome?
We weren’t aware of the break in period. We replaced the impeller which had some dings. But the issue was just break in period. After about six hours it was up to 7800rpms and 44 miles per hour. We were only borrowing it so I’m not sure how much more get up it will have once break in is done
