seadoo sportster problem please help

ok I have a small problem my sportster 717 runs good at idle and to about half throttle it runs good but when I try to push it past half way it like it wont go any faster it actually feels like it slows down a bit and I can hear the motor sounds like I backed off the throttle just a little but still stays running any help on this would be greatly appreciated thank

Has the carbs been rebuilt? Sound like the high speed jet is either clogged or you need to make an adjustment.

carbs are clean and plugs look brown not lean and not to rich and its a single engine

when you go to full throttle the rpms go up and down could this be eletrical

If the engine starts and idles like normal.
When you take off, does it plane right away?

When was the last time out?
You should check compression jik to make sure your/we are chasing our tails.
Its an easy confirmation and you can move on to other things

Or at half throttle when you try to push forward on lever it does nothing?-->
Have the carbs been off where butterfly not adjusted properly?

Or at half throttle when you try to push forward on lever it increases in rpm"s but starts to shudder/vibrate/caviate?
---> Bad wear ring on something in the pump

Or at half throttle when you try to push forward on lever it increases rpms with no change in propulsion and it goes up/down like surging for gas----> Carbs have to come off and cleaned. Especially if boat has been sitting.

ok it idles fine and if I give it a little at a time it will get up on plane but if I go from idle straight to half throttle it does act like it has cavitation or it need new wear ring

the last time it was out was yesterday

and for the carbs when I push it from half to full it is like it wants to for a second but it surges it will rev up and back down but will not pick up any speed if anything it slows down a bit and on the pto carb the butterfly is bent out of shape a little but have no Idea how it happened it was like that when I bought it and it does act like its surging up and down and I took carbs off last night and the screens had very minimal trash just a very little the carbs are off now as I am thinking about getting another set because of that butterfly
