Seadoo Sportster 4tec fuel gauge stuck at full

Seems that this question was asked a few times but never answered - does anybody know how to fix this problem?
The fuel gauge is ALWAYS full - boat off, battery switch off, cables from fuel baffle and even to gauge disconnected etc. No matter what, the needle is always the way up and never moved. I just purchased this boat a week ago.

In the past I fixed the fuel baffle problem in a 2 stroke speedster - however this seems completely different

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Normally a pegged gauge means a bad ground, but the fact that it stays pegged with no power to it has me thinking maybe the gauge is bad. Have you tested the signal and ground wires going to the gauge?

I thought I was the only one !!

Thank you for the reply

- Power goes to the gauge, lights all work

- I took the gauge out, still needle stuck at full. When I loosened the nuts in the back the needle dropped. I thought maybe it was just stuck/dry or something... plugged it back in. Needle didn't move at all.

I know the OHM readings on the old seadoos... not sure how to test this one.
Also - any after market fuel gauges? seems that one from Seadoo is $330 for something so small...

Thanks!

No manufacturer label on gauge (aside from the BRP logo). You don't have a wiring diagram for the dash correct? Here's a page out of my 2012 service manual. If you have the one for your boat, you should be able to find model specific info, but here's what my manual shows:

I determined that I have a defective fuel gauge.
All the wires worked - when I tried to operate the gauge with a 12v source indoor with and without resistance... There was no movement in the needle.

Next step is waiting for a generic gauge to come in. Now I need to know the resistance range for the fuel baffle... Anyone know?

All I can find is the one for the old two strokes... 0-90ohms.

I dont believe you will find a generic that matches the range of the seadoo sender, I remember looking for one and all I could find was a programmable Autometer one for around $100. All of the gauges have a drain hole on the face at the 6 o clock position. I popped mine out of the dash bezel and sprayed some electronic safe silicone spray up in there and then cycled the needles on a couple of my stuck gauges with a long piece of mechanics wire through this same hole. Broke mine free and they work as intended now. Worth a shot for you.

Today I pulled out the fuel sender unit - replaced all the filters! :) ... and also got a chance to check the resistance

It is 0 - 90 ohms... the only problem unlike typical gauges that read empty at 0 and full at 90.... this is the opposite - empty at 90 and full at 0!

Now time to check around for a fuel gauge that can do that...or maybe see if I can reverse the arm electronics
