Hi all!
I'm new to the forum and looking to purchase a 2009 seadoo Islandia. I know very little about boats and looking for info.
The boat I'm looking at is a 2009 Islandia that has twin supercharged 215 HP Rotax engines and 20 hours run time.
I read that the engine need to be rebuilt every 100 hours with the supercharged 215 engines. Is this true?
The seller is asking $30k for the boat, is this price to much? The boat is in excellent shape!
Any info is appreciated.
Thank You!

Not the engines, the SC need rebuilt every 100 hours. Engines can get 400 or more hrs on them with proper maintenance.

Some items to bring to your attention. The 07-08 models had ceramic washes in the SC. They DESTROY engines as the ceramic chips off and the engine ingests them. I mention this as, some 09 models had the 08 SC installed on them. We assume it was Seadoo using what they had left in stock. I'd get a serial number of them and confirm what you have. If you have ceramic washers they would need replaced NOW no matter how many hrs are on them. The 09 and up have an update kit that fits the earlier SC. If you need to rebuild yours get the updated 09up version. It extends the rebuild to 200 hrs.

Thanks for the info!
Who would I call to find out about the washers if I get the serial#'s
How much does it cost to rebuild the superchargers?

I would think a BRP / Seadoo dealer might be able to help with locating serial numbers.

I have a good shop in my area that does complete rebuilds on superchargers for $350 labor plus parts. (Ea s/charger) Parts vary but OEM (not from China) kits are around $250-300. so $650.00 complete labor / parts. If you search these forums you will find a lot of guys talking about Jerry at Green Hulk who rebuilds s/chargers for around $75.00 that's with you removing them and mailing to him, then re-installing yourself. Everyone says he does great work. If you're so inclined to do it yourself, here's some great links on how to check test and remove and install:

Removal: http://www.**************/forums/showthread.php?t=13403

Test: http://www.seadoosource.com/supercharger.html

Best of luck....

Just tested my links, not sure why the removal link wouldn't post but replace the missing**** letters with: GREEN HULK . NET ( no spaces, I just spaced these so they would post)

The Islandia is a good boat, and BRP 4 tec's are fairly bullet proof. If you do some digging, you will most likely find some type issue with most any make or model, be it a s/charger or an outdrive each has their strengths and weaknesses....Good luck

What about the price at $30k,
Is it a fair price for this boat?

Va2...Prices vary depending on your area, and if it's being sold by a dealer or private seller. I believe that boat was in the upper 40K's when new,and with just 20 hrs it is extremely lightly used. Here in my area (S-West) I'm guessing a 2009 Islandia in "excellent" shape with a trailer, cover, etc would probably go for $24-28K. There are kelly blue book or NADA on line sites you can run to give you general ideas also try ebay and boat trader, again they show asking prices. Maybe the seller has a cushion built into the 30K asking price. Being as it's still pretty cold, boats are probably a bit harder to sell now. As summer aproacheth, that could change. What ever boat you buy try to get a sea trial or at least have an experienced surveyor appraise it, especially if it's from a private seller.

It would be a private deal.
The boat was on the market from May- October last year.
I have seen 2007 islandias without SC on eBay sell for around $12-$15k!
IDK what to do!!!!!

As one of the older guys here, please allow me to pass on some (hard earned) wisdom:

When in doubt...DON'T!

Your first instinct is usually your best instinct, because your brain kicks it out quickly based on available fact, after that the longer we ponder, the more we tend to spin the issue based on emotion...

Went to a boat show today and spoke with a few dealers. I was very surprised how many dealers won't take a jet boat in on trade! I also noticed how I could purchase a new 2013 21' Yamaha for less then the 2009 Islandia i was looking at LOL.!!!!The problem I'm having is the islandia has a great layout vs the Yamaha 21' but buying a new boat with no hours and 5 years newer looks pretty good:)

You owe it to yourself to check out the new Rotax powered Scarab and the Glastron boats. If you're gonna spend that kind of money on a boat it makes sense to get a boat from a dealer network that can also service your boat. There's a section on this forum about the new Scarab, nice boat but very pricey.
