Seadoo GTX 97' Problems Starting

having a issue with my seadoo gtx 97' starting

when i put the key the 2 beeps come up as normal.

when i hit the start button it sounds like a clonk noise from the engine, when its trying to start. any suggestions what the problem may be and if i can fix it.

the battery is fully charged.

have been informed that there may be water in the engine
is there a way that i can check if there is any water in the engine?

spark plugs?

Take out the spark plugs and check their condition. If you have water in the engine, you should be able to tell by reading your plugs..........
When you pull both plugs out, remove the guard on the back of the engine. You should be able to roll it over by hand.............

I would also check the starter for damage as it could be a problem with a bendix if it turns out that there is no water in the engine. Water in the engine means costly trouble.
