Seadoo gti confusion

i have a 1997 seadoo gti & of course it’s having problems. It will start & idle completely fine. then a few mins later it won’t. I will remove the pulse line off of the carb and it shoots out a bunch of stuff & without the pulse line even on it starts right up. I got it to start today so I took it out to the water to see what it would even do & I got up to about 45 mph which is about right and after about a minute it died and wouldn’t start back. Anybody know maybe why? (Rotary valve gear & valve itself was already replaced and timed correctly) compression is 140/140. Thanks in advance guys!

Did you remove the pulse line from the carb and leave it connected to the engine casing? If the junk is coming from the engine casing it can get into the fuel pump on the carburetor. That condition will limit the pump capacity. I would pull the rotary valve cover(you can leave the valve in place) and have a look inside the engine and clean it out as best I can. I would also pull the carburetor and check the fuel pump for foreign material. There may be water or oil in the pump section.

You can go further if needed by checking the whole system (Fuel Valve, water separator, fuel vent, and lines) Good Luck !!
