Perhaps this can turn into an good INFORMATION THREAD. As these engines get older and parts get more scarce this could be a good resource. My point for doing this is that I was doing some research trying to identiy the flywheel I just put on 717 Engine. I was not very confident on what I found in my searches. I'd really like to find a document or site where one could identify the flywheel type and application by the numbers are markings on the Flywheel. I'll put some numbers here as a start. Perhaps this might help someone.

I had a spare 717 so I removed the mag cover and checked the numbers on that engine. 032000-8420 VC150 9PX (this engine as a 4 wire plug for the mag)
The 717 engine I just assembled I installed a flywheel with this number 032000-8420 VC150 10QY (this engine has a 4 wire plug)

I have a 657X engine with a 5 wire plug. I'm not positive but fairly sure this is the correct flywheel for the engine. The numbers are 032000-8000 VC139 2PX ( 5 wire connection on this magneto)

I have flywheels from other engines I will compare and post the numbers when I have time. Hopefully some knowledgeable individuals can provide some guidance.
Hope this helps.

I decided to use one of my 657X Magneto housings on the 717. I checked for fit and all that and decided to prep and install it. I think it is gonna be OK as I was able to line everything up spot on with the timing. What I didn't realize is the mag cover on the 657X uses smaller screws M5 X .8 so.... thankfully I have the correct cover for the housing. I see why the upgraded those screws are way too small.

I've been going through the parts lists and checking the "Where Used" for the 717. The site hasn't been giving me the "where used" icon for quite a while. I really liked that aspect. Does any othe site have a "where used" icon. Sure would make it easier for me. For what I can tell the 717's all use the same mag flywheel. I just ordered one off a 2003. I have a number of 717 engines I'm buiding with more to come.
