Hey I have got some serious issues with my Challenger. Of course I just picked it up. One motor has a bad starter and I'm hoping someone has advice to make this job easier short of us taking it to someone to pay them to change it out. So i took the old one out last weekend when the weather was nice before I had a new starter. Now I have the new one and Can't remember how to put it in. If there is an exploded diagram for it that someone can point me to I would appreciate it. Its a 1999 Seadoo Challenger with 1800t with twin 787's.
This is a nice boat. I have worked on several of them. If you've only removed one of them, then you have the other motor as your reference. If you pull up the part index for your boat, choose to look at the "Magneto and Oil pump" blow up. Though it doesn't show the exact pump, it does show where the bolt holes are. Look at part #3 and just above that number, you'll see two bolt holes. This is where the front of the starter bolts go. Then, in the back, you have one bolt that attached to the block for supporting the weight. Of course, you know where the positive cable goes.
Be sure, when connecting this two engine system starter system, you will have the battery, usually coming from the starboard side, connecting ground to ground between the two engines, then your starter solenoid starter lines coming from your electrical boxes.
I have a set up I could take with pix, but in the last year, my shop has been swamped with boats and skis, and there has been very little time for me to participate in the forum. Outside the fact, after my divorce, the wife sold off a lot of my shop equipment.... Women!... They are not all bad, but she def decided to hit me where it hurts, my "Hobbie"!!!!!!!
