I just buy Sea-Doo Challenger 1997 with Single 787

The engine was rebuilt this year.
Compression 150PSI on both cylinder

I get my carburetor rebuilt my professional with OEM Minuki Parts.

I just Rebuilt all my jet pump (bearing, new shaft, new cone, wear ring) and install a new Solas impeller.

New spark plug

I do my first water test this week-end and I have this trouble...
My engine start well but when i pull my throttle WOT i only hit 5000rpm.
My engine work fine between idle to 5000rpm.
I was able to hit 7000rpm only one time if i snap the throttle from 2500RPM to WOT.

Do you have any idea...

Thanks for your help!!

I would 1st, confirm the throttle cable is adjusted properly. Could be it's not fully opening the butterfly of the throttle plate. After this, make sure the high speed mixture screw is adjusted to the factory recommended setting.

From complete stop idle in water, it's possible to caviate the impeller by moving the throttle to wide open suddenly. Then it will probably rev high until the boat begins to move and the water is beginning to "stuff" into the pump intake due to speed of the hull.

I wasnt complete stop when i snap it.

97 was an off year for the RAVE valves. THere was a service bulletin about it.View attachment 37834

I have a 1997 GSX and have never seen it run. Currently working on it. Should I replace these parts with "updated" parts as a matter of preventative maintenance now, or wait until the GSX is running and see if there is a problem then?

EDIT***

Nevermind. I just looked up the "updated" part number. The valve itself is $55, each (x 2). Think I'll get the engine running and then find out if there's a problem.
