Bought my first ski and went out on it. Was running fine until it made a rattle/bang then cut out. Wouldn’t start up again in the water. Got it back to shore pushing it and took it home. Flushed the ski however still wouldn’t start. Left it a couple weeks and it fired up.

Anyone any suggestions on why this happened? What could it be?

Thanks

I have a seadoo gti 97. Been sat for a few months. Drained fuel and replaced with new. New spark plugs. Compression check showing 145/150 on front and 150 on rear.

Started up briefly but soon as I took my finger off the button it stopped. Any ideas?

I wonder if it hydro locked. Did you notice any pressure when you removed the spark plugs? Did any fluid come out when you turned it over with the plugs out?

You said at the end of your comment that it did start back up, it is running now?

No no pressure from the plugs and no fluid. It started but it’s stopped soon as I let go of the start button..

Still not running just turning over

Does it actually crank or just turn over? It sounds like your start button is bad but I don't know too much about it.. Search the forum I thought I read that someone was able to bypass it to start there ski...not 100% sure on that. It is weird because that button also stops the ski.

Yes it’s cranking over, just seems like there isn’t a spark to fire it up

If you remove the spark plugs how easy is the engine to turn by hand? Did you check for anything inside the jet pump? Collapsed wear ring perhaps. If the engine is only able to turn over with the starter something may be dragging.
