Seadoo 98 GSX ltd - Proper location for these?

Hello,

98 Seadoo gsx and wondering if these plastic flaps should be on top of the motor like you see in the picture here, or below basically infront of the air intake. Reason I ask is because every picture I check online shows the flaps in a different location, or not existing at all, and on one one of my seadoos the flaps are above, on the other the flaps below (basically blocking air intake). I heard there was some carb kit upgrade to block water from getting in so maybe these flaps are part of that kit? Either way.. I question exactly where their intended location should be. Hopefully there is someone educated here to answer. Thx in advance!

Those flaps protect the intake from the exhaust seal breaking and blowing water into the carb. The kit that came with my 99 wrapped around the black pipe at the exhaust manifold covering the seal just in case it vibrated loose. That looks correct the way mine is on.

thanks everyone, I guess I will try to get them ontop of the engine instead of blocking the carb air intake like they are on my one gsx ltd. Mikidymac... your are one devoted individual thanks for all your efforts in answering questions on this forum.
