Seadoo 3D (2005) Exhaust Cooling

Hi, I recently got hold off a 3D that hasn't done many hours but hasn't run in 5 years. New battery, fuel, plugs and general clean up and it's now starting and running well. First ride out on it though the engine cut out due to exhaust gasses leaking from the plastic T fitting on the exhaust.

I'm assuming there is a cooling issue so I'm now working my way around the hoses and valves and checking for blockages.

So far I've been able to blow through everything except the elbow knuckle that is the Anti-rollover bypass.

My question is should this be clear or could this being blocked be my problem?

Any help, advice much appreciated.

The 3d is a strange ski, and has it's own issues. But... if that is a valve of some kind... then it has to open in some condition. I would remove it from the pipe, and examine it closer on the bench.

But, if you are getting water out the bypass hose... and our the "Pee Hole"... then I wouldn't assume it's overheating. (just being choked by exhaust)

Thanks for the reply Dr Honda. I've taken the pipe off and found that the bottom (tuned pipe supply) elbow connector was blocked. I tried to clear the blockage with wire & hot water but had no luck.

I then decided to remove the elbow connector and it pretty much fell off. There is a lot of corrosion on the thread. This is in theory the lowest point of the system so if water was going to sit anywhere its going to be here.

I've since left the pipe with a metal fabricators and welding chap, he's going to remove the corroded section and weld a new piece of aluminium on. He's also going to tap in a hole and thread ready for installing the elbow hose connector again.

Once I've got the pipe back and installed, I'll post an update for anyone else in a similar position.

I hate it when my elbows fall off...

just had similar w/a 951 head. looks like it sucked in a ton of salt water, then they let the engine sit for 20 years.
