SeaDoo 2001 Islandia Starting Problems: Desperate for HELP. ANYONE. I do my own maintenance up to my limitations. Problem: When I engage the starter the starter motor rotates a few seconds and the starter bendix disengages. I changed the starter and the solenoid but that did not resolve the problem. Someone mentioned it could be a fuel problem causing the starter to cut out so I changed the fuel filter and the fuel/water filter. I also changed the electric fuel pump because the old electric fuel pump would run about a minute before shutting off. The new pump now turns off in about 35 seconds after turning the ignition on. I also changed the pulse fuel pump and the electric fuel pump in the vapor chamber which did not help either. Even if I bypass the ignition switch and jump the solenoid the starter still disengaged in a few seconds. I need subjections I’ve reached my limitation. philinkeys

It disengages for one of two reasons. Low battery voltage and or the engine starts or nearly starts and spins faster than the starter.

Get the battery load tested.

to Coastiejoe. Thankyou for taking the time to respond to my starting problem.
I took both batteries out and had them tested at Advance Auto Supply. Both checked out good. My boat has 223 hours on it. I don’t know about the engine spinning faster they the starter. I never heard of that? Phil
