Seadoo 1998 Sportster 1800 Air Intake Pull Plugs missing

Are the pull plug on the air intakes important as both of mine are missing?

I have seen a lot missing. I either replace them or put tape over the hole but it really doesn't do anything especially in a boat.

Run it that little hole won't hurt a thing as it's after the flame arrestor screen.but for peice of mind you can clean around it and throw a peice of electrical tape over it
