Hey all! I just joined today, but thought I'd get involved right away. I'm a big ATV guy, and have a 62HP 450r that I built and love, but I though maybe it was time to hit the water, because it's hot as heck in Texas.
After researching and etc, I decided on the Sea Doo Spark as my first ski. I have ridden GTX and etc mostly in the past but have never owned one. So I went with the 2up H.O. Non-IBR with the conv package and trailer. They threw in a lifejacket, and free cover (285.00 total value) and I walked out the door 7800.00.
I was on the lake the NEXT DAY! I read in the manual that it requires a 5 hour break in period, so I'm in that stage now, but let me tell you this: I was on the ski all day(taking breaks, swimming, etc) and for an entry level ski, this thing is FUN AS HELL! I got to 38MPH a few times, and on this light of a ski, that's moving along. I can't wait to get it broke in so I can really have some fun!
It handles great, looks awesome, and is very nimble and easy to throw around. For me, it's the perfect weekend play toy for the family. I don't race, or ride 5 days a week, so I didn't wanna try and justify spending 12k on a ski that would mostly be in the garage. I think the spark is perfect for the "weekend warrior".
For anyone who is considering it, you won't regret it if you're just looking for a fun toy. I'm 185 lbs and it's got plenty for me, can't wait to really open it up. I'll do the 90 to 120hp mod after the year warranty expires, but for now I'm just going to enjoy it as is!
Recommendations:
Get the foam side bumpers and also buy the snap in red bumpers, the side scuffs easily, I got one little small one from the dock, but nothing major. This 200.00 is worth it to prevent damage.
I ordered a graphics kit for it, and I'm looking forward to getting that put on and having a fun summer at the lake!
If you're on the fence about this ski, and you're truly a recreational rider, GO GET IT!
