My husband and I have a 1997 Sea Doo Challenger 1800 with twin rotax 787's in it, and it has a brand new rotax engine and the other one was fine, but now we think the carbs need cleaned, also every once in awhile this engine will lose spark (no spark to the spark plugs) and we can't even get it running, we just sit at the dock cranking on this thing....can anyone tell me if there is a good sea doo mechanic in this area - Decatur, IL area, I will pay him well......... please personal message me anyone looking for work....we need it...

Hi,

Most thing can be done by you with simple tools and manual.
The no spark are usually two or three things.

You can try cutting spark plug wire back a 1/4. Just pull boot off wire.
If that doesn't help. The pick up coil inside of the housing towards front of engine may need to come off.
Usually gets pieces of metal around magnet which cause electrical problems.

With the carbs you can rebuild them yourself or put them in a box and send it to DrHonda.
He is a moderator here and does rebuild for forum members.

Post from minnetonka4me #5 has how to test pick up coil.

If we can't get your boat working with simple yes/no tests to rule out components a mechanic won't either but will charge you to find out............
